What Mason Mount said to Nuno Tavares in fiery confrontation during Chelsea clash with Arsenal

Mason Mount’s confrontation with Arsenal defender Nuno Tavares following a tussle for possession caught fans’ eyes. The 23-year-old looked unpleased by how Mikel Arteta’s left-back fell to the ground and pleaded for a foul.

The Chelsea midfielder was spotted exchanging unpleasantries with Tavares. The fiery dialogue – ‘Get the f*** up’ – typified everything that a London derby brings, especially during an evening kick-off.

Though, the number of expletives used doesn’t win games. Goals do. Eddie Nketiah ignited the London derby inside the opening quarter of an hour after a stray pass from Andreas Christensen threaded the 21-year-old through on goal with Edouard Mendy.

Timo Werner levelled proceedings just moments later after his deflected effort looped beyond a perplexed Aaron Ramsdale. The Gunners nipped Chelsea’s momentum in the bud ten minutes later when Emile Smith Rowe pulled his side back into the lead.

Cesar Azpilicueta drew Thomas Tuchel’s side – again – just moments later, keeping the London derby flame alive heading into half-time. Mount, who provided the delivery to his captain’s goal, continued to be at the heart of the action.

The Cobham graduate flaunted his range of passing with a brilliantly lofted pass to Marcos Alonso, receiving a roar of appreciation form the stands. Mount’s moment of impassioned rage, heart and composure typified everything that his boss has hailed him for in recent weeks.

“It’s always a pleasure to work with Mason,” the Blues boss told Chelsea TV. “He’s the kind of guy who comes with a smile to every single training and is always 100 per cent in matches and accepting every challenge.

“That’s why it’s so nice to work with him. He’s full of quality and has a Blue heart. He loves the club, he loves Chelsea, and that’s how he plays. He has our full support because he’s always switched on and ready to push himself to the limit. That’s the foundation that he gets our full support because he deserves it.”
