Hakim Ziyech returns, transfer talk shelved – 3 things spotted in Chelsea training for Burnley

The Blues’ next assignment sees them finally back in Premier League action against Burnley and Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel has been handed a couple of welcome returnees

Chelsea are finally back in Premier League action this weekend as they take on struggling Burnley at Turf Moor.

The Blues have not been in domestic league action for a couple of weeks having faced clashes in the Champions League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup.

Their recent fixtures have been profitable with a dominant win against Lille in Europe, before Thomas Tuchel’s men booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals at the expense of Luton Town.

Defeat to Liverpool at Wembley was the only negative of the past few weeks.

Tuchel and his charges will of course be keen to earn victory against the Clarets then and has taken a look at a few clues during Chelsea’s most recent training session.

Newest undroppable in contention once more

Before his injury picked up against Lille, Hakim Ziyech was potentially in the best form of his Blues career.

The Moroccan trickster had played every minute of each of the previous three matches in the league, scoring in all of those and looked to be one of the first names on the team sheet.

Unfortunately, a problem in the Champions League has seen him miss the last couple of weeks of action – albeit having not missed a Premier League game.

As confirmed by Tuchel, Ziyech returned to training ahead of the Blues’ trip to Turf Moor so will definitely be aiming to earn his place back in the starting line-up and get back on the scoresheet once more.

Chalobah back in action

Whilst Ziyech’s return to training will be a welcome boost to Chelsea, another man they will be relieved to see back is Trevoh Chalobah.

The academy graduate was on the receiving end of a crunching challenge by Naby Keita during the Carabao Cup final and thus was ruled out of the recent win against Luton Town.

However, Chalobah was once again back on the training pitch ahead of this weekend’s game so could well be another one to be in contention.

Christensen all smiles despite transfer talk

As the end of the season edges into sight, Andreas Christensen’s Chelsea future continues to grow more uncertain.

The Danish defender is out of contract at the end of the season and has been strongly linked with Barcelona.

Recent reports have suggested that the Catalan giants are stepping up their efforts to secure his services, presenting Christensen with an extremely tricky decision to make – not that he has shown it in training.
