Chelsea duo Hakim Ziyech and Romelu Lukaku are reportedly friends, despite the fact both were seen in a heated discussion in this week’s Premier League match against Brighton.
The Telegraph’s sources report that the Blues attackers are good friends.
Ziyech and Lukaku were spotted chatting with each other while walking off at half time during Chelsea’s 1-1 draw away to Brighton on Tuesday night. It looked like from the outside the duo were arguing, which would make sense after Lukaku’s visible frustration moments earlier when Ziyech overhit a pass towards him.
However, reports seem to squash any notion that there is any more to the incident.
Chelsea’s poor league form has seen them record one victory in their previous seven top-flight matches, so the pressure is building around Stamford Bridge.
Pundit Alan Shearer is convinced there is unrest in the dressing room, too, after noticing how some of the Blues players reacted to Ziyech’s goal against Brighton
What is the best Chelsea attack?
Unfortunately, this is a question that will surely be burning on the brain of manager Thomas Tuchel every day.
The German boss has tried out so many different combinations in the final third throughout the course of his first year in charge, but he can’t seem to settle on his favourite one.
Lukaku’s the focal point at striker who’s getting plenty of opportunities in the XI, albeit he simply needs to start delivering more goals for the side.
It could be any combination out of Ziyech, Mason Mount, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Christian Pulisic Timo Werner or Kai Havertz playing alongside him.
The opportunity remains for someone to really step up and become the elite attacker.
