Chelsea have announced their starting line-up on Twitter for tonight’s game against Tottenham – and some Blues fans on social media are a bit gutted to see Christian Pulisic only named on the bench.
Thomas Tuchel has named a strong Blues XI for the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final tie against Spurs.
Chelsea travel across London with a two-goal aggregate lead from the first leg, so avoid defeat away to Spurs and they’ll be playing at Wembley Stadium in the final.
Chelsea fans upset about Pulisic
A selection of the Chelsea fanbase on Twitter are arguing it’s a harsh decision from manager Tuchel to leave Pulisic out of the starting line-up this evening.
The 23-year-old attacker started and assisted in the weekend’s 5-1 win over non-league Chesterfield at the weekend in the FA Cup third round.
He was used as a late substitute in the first leg contest against Spurs, something that may be repeated again.
The American speedster has three goals and three assists in 18 appearances this season. Unfortunately, he can’t nail down a starting position in what is a ridiculously competitive squad at Stamford Bridge when everyone is fit in the forward positions.
Chelsea vs Spurs head to head
If history is anything to go by, Chelsea should feel confident of reaching the Carabao Cup final.
The Blues have won seven of the last 10 meetings with Spurs across all competitions, including last week’s 2-0 victory.
They’ve lost twice during that run, but surely must take huge confidence going into tonight’s showdown in North London.
Of course, Spurs possess some talented individuals that can challenge the best on their day. There is certainly nothing to fear for this Chelsea side, though, especially after the first leg performance.
