Chelsea defender has warned PSG forward Kylian Mbappe that he will play ‘dirty’ against him in training if and when both players seal their summer transfers to Real Madrid.
Both players look to be on the verge of leaving their respective clubs on free transfers in the summer, and are seen as two players that could help Los Blancos turn their recent slump around, and as a result, get them challenging again on the top level in Europe once again.
Mbappe, 23, is reportedly adamant on moving to the Spanish capital this summer and as a consequence, has batted away any attempts from PSG to change his mind. Meanwhile, there is still a chance that Chelsea and Rudiger can come to some form of compromise before it’s too late.
A deal for the World Cup winner to move to Real Madrid appeared to be in the works last summer but the Parisians rejected a mammoth offer with the hope that Mauricio Pochettino could convince Mbappe to stay at the Parc des Princes.
On Rudiger in particular, football.london understands that the £140,000-per-week offer is still around £60,000 short of the £200,000-per-week that the ex-Roma man is looking for, as he assesses everything on the table before making a final decision.
Rudiger knows how much Tuchel admires him as a vital part of his Champions League-winning rear-guard, but at the same time, the player in question also is aware that whatever he decides next will prove to be perhaps the last big pay day of his career.
Tuchel knows he has personally done all he has can to persuade the defender to stay, whilst also reaffirming his ‘100% trust’ in the Chelsea board to make the right decision.
“He is a guy who needs to trust you. He needs to feel the connection and trust. He needs to feel it by minutes and actions,” Tuchel recently said.
“I don’t feel Toni needs a lot of words, coffee talks or invitations for dinners or whatever. He is a top professional. This is what he proves and nothing has changed. The talks are in good hands. I trust the club 100%, trust in the player and it is a no problem situation for me.
“Also, Toni can still deliver, he did a fantastic match in a back four. He is super reliable. Nothing has changed, the points of view haven’t changed and once something changes. You will be the first to know.”
Spanish outlet AS report that Rudiger has dreams of only donning the white shirt of Real Madrid, and that Rudiger himself has reached out to ex-Chelsea teammates Eden Hazard and Thibaut Courtois to get their views on what they think he should do regarding a potential move to the Spanish capital.
If Hazard’s secret chats with Chelsea No.2 were to work a treat, then there is a real possibility that we see the aforementioned duo seal their dream Los Blancos moves on free transfers.
Looking ahead to this prospect, the former Roma man has warned one of the world’s best players what to expect when two two train together and against each other in certain drills at the Valdebebas training complex.
When discussing plans to isolate Mbappe out of the France vs Germany Euro 2020 group stage clash, a fixture that Les Bleus ran out 1-0 victors in a tight and tense group stage affair, Rudiger made no secret the rough and tough approach he had to take against PSG’s No.7.
“Of course, they have good forwards, we have to be ready to win the one-on-one challenges,” the Chelsea defender said at the time.
“We have to be a little dirty, not always be nice or try to play nice football.
“Against players like them, you have to throw down a marker.”
A few injuries in training could be expected if this approach is replicated by the pair when they possibly unite together in the Spanish capital.
