Chelsea make big Ben Chilwell decision after defender undergoes second scan on knee injury

Ben Chilwell is expected to miss the remainder of Chelsea’s season with the England international set to undergo surgery on his knee ligament injury this week, understands.

It was during the second half of the impressive Champions League victory over Juventus last month that the 25-year-old hobbled off following an innocuous collision with Adrien Rabiot.

Chilwell underwent a scan that revealed he’d sustained a partial ACL tear. The decision was then taken for the wing-back to begin rehabilitation work at Cobham rather than undergoing immediate surgery.

“The decision is to treat it conservatively,” Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel explained. “The next six weeks will tell the story if he makes it and will be fully available within this six weeks, or after the six weeks or needs surgery after that.

Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp sends warning on how they can beat Chelsea and Man City in title race

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has called for ‘perfection’ from his Reds side from now until the end of the season amid a tight Premier League title race involving both Manchester City and Chelsea.

Klopp’s side come into this gameweek 20 clash of the season with extra days rest in comparison to the other two title challengers as their Boxing Day fixture against Leeds United was postponed due to Covid issues within the opposition ranks.

“The consistency the boys show is incredible but that is the only chance you have,” said Klopp on Monday via The Daily Mail.

“In a league with probably the best team in the world, it is really tricky to be ahead of them. So far, at least, we are not completely out of reach. It is not like we have no chance anymore.”

Alan Shearer proven wrong as three Premier League bosses join Thomas Tuchel in five subs support

Alan Shearer has been proven wrong as three Premier League managers join Thomas Tuchel in pleading for the five substitutions reintroduction amid the constant player welfare debate during Covid

Unsurprisingly, Jurgen Klopp was also in favour of the five subs rule change but what is a surprise is how Brighton’s Graham Potter and Brentford’s Thomas Frank view the situation, especially considering they are the supposed ‘smaller clubs’ who would have been affected by the ‘unfair advantage’ of this possible rule change.

Potter, the opposition manager who will be in Stamford Bridge dugout on Wednesday night, referenced the ‘player welfare’ debate as a reason why the top flight needs to take action sooner rather than later.

Speaking in a press conference after Albion’s win over Brentford on Boxing Day, the Englishmen said via Sussex Live: “Our position was always five subs, that is what we voted for.

Ralf Rangnick Chelsea snub mocked as Manchester United draw with Newcastle in the Premier League

Chelsea fans have mocked Ralf Rangnick’s Blues snub amid Manchester United’s early wobble under the German’s reign.

The Red Devils have dropped vital ground in the race for top four as they were fortuitous in the end to come away from St James’ Park with a point in the 1-1 draw against Newcastle on Monday night.

@CFCPys delivered his opinion: ‘Tuchel would win trophies with United’s squad, I don’t know why Rangnick can’t get the best out of them since he’s supposedly his daddy.’

@slivahCfc tweeted: ‘They said Ralf Rangnick trained Klopp and Tuchel yet he can’t win a poor form Newcastle….’

Napoli want Chelsea defender

With Roma asking for at least €20m for Marash Kumbulla, Napoli are now considering Tottenham’s Davinson Sanchez and Chelsea’s Malang Sarr, according to Il Corriere dello Sport via Football Italia.

For these reasons, Napoli are now looking elsewhere and according to Il Corriere dello Sport, both Sarr and Sanchez are among their targets for the winter transfer window.

Sarr has been struggling with playing time at Chelsea and has also been linked with Milan.

The intermediary in charge of negotiations with Italian clubs is Romelu Lukaku’s agent Federico Pastorello.

Manchester United are showing Chelsea made the correct decision on Jadon Sancho

It was hard not to imagine what could have been for Jadon Sancho at Chelsea when watching him last season for Borussia Dortmund.

Sancho was world-class in the Bundesliga last season and made a real statement in the 2020/21 Champions League campaign

In total, the England international scored 50 goals in all competitions and also attained 64 assists during his time at Signal Iduna Park, goal contributions that nearly shifted the power in Germany, although Bayern Munich were ultimately able to hold onto their status as the No. 1 side in Germany.

Manchester United and Chelsea were locked in battle to try and prise the former Manchester City academy man back to England for a second chance and initially, it looked as though the Blues were going to be successful in beating the Red Devils to the punch.
