Marcos Alonso could reportedly be prepared to quit Chelsea during the January transfer market.
The Spanish star started the campaign as the regular at left wing-back, but the former Fiorentina ace was displaced by the England international Ben Chilwell after a couple of months.
Ben’s recent knee injury has enabled Marcos to retain a starting spot, but his showings have been far from convincing recently.
There is speculation that Thomas Tuchel’s side could bring in another player for the position. They are allegedly interested in under-fire Everton’s star Lucas Digne.
Amidst this, journalist Ian McGarry has stated that Alonso could be ready to leave the Stamford Bridge side this winter to boost his international prospects.
Marcos has been a regular with his country recently, and he’s eyeing regular senior team football to secure a World Cup berth in Qatar next year.
There are no guarantees that he’ll remain in the starting eleven for Chelsea when Chilwell is fit. Alonso could also be replaced by a January signing.
It remains to be seen whether the Premier League giants will entertain the prospect of losing him in the near future. Juventus and Inter Milan have been linked with him.
