The London giants are stepping up their attempts to add Pablo Gavira in a future transfer window. Chelsea are preparing a bumper deal offer for the Barcelona midfielder, with a €6m-a-year contract ready to be tabled by the London club.
Spain international joined the Blaugrana’s famed academy La Masia from Real Betis in summer 2015 before making swift progress through the ranks in the team’s youth setup. However, many were left surprised when Gavira was handed his first-team debut at the onset of the ongoing campaign, as he is just 17 years old.
But Pablo has shown maturity beyond his years in the chances afforded to him, playing 18 games across all tournaments for the Catalan giants this campaign. The 17-year-old midfielder’s progress has helped him cement his place as a regular for Barcelona, usurping Riqui Puig and Philippe Coutinho in the process.
And it is hardly surprising that several teams, including the Blues, are keen on signing the Spanish midfielder. The interest from the Blues is understandable, considering Kante has had his fair share of fitness issues in recent years.
In addition, there is uncertainty surrounding the future of Barkley, who is only an emergency option for the German coach. There has also been speculation surrounding the Italian midfielder Jorginho, with recent reports claiming that a comeback to Serie A could be on the cards for the UEFA Euro 2020 winner.
To that end, the Spaniard is a viable target for the Blues, and the Barcelona midfielder could be a long-term solution in the middle of the park for Chelsea.
