Chelsea goalkeeper in line to receive bumper fresh contract

Chelsea are allegedly set to offer shot-stopper, Edouard Mendy, a bumper fresh deal.

The Senegal star has been a revelation for the Blues since signing for them last summer to replace the struggling Kepa Arrizabalaga.

And the west Londoners are said to be interested in rewarding the keeper for his efforts with a fresh pay packet.

That is according to Football Insider, who claim discussions over a new contract for the former Rennes star are underway.

It’s claimed the 29-year-old is one of the club’s ‘low earning’ players on a measly £60,000 per week.

The figure would likely increase to around £100,000 per week if he extends his Chelsea stay past 2025.

Senior members are said to be eager to tie Edouard down because of fears he could depart for a bigger payday.

He played a key role in Chelsea’s UEFA Champions League triumph last term and has been a stalwart between the sticks in the team’s push for Premier League glory this season.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are allegedly still interested in landing Paris Saint-Germain centre-half Marquinhos.

The Blues were heavily linked with the Brazil star over the summer, but the transfer market closed with the 27-year-old remaining at Les Parisiens.

Hew recently stated that Chelsea were blocked from holding transfer discussions with him, as the Ligue 1 giants were not willing to sell the player in the recent window.
